93 pts wine review: 2018 Escudo Rojo Origine Cabernet Sauvignon

Ottawa, ON

May 2021

Matt’s review: Escudo Rojo (Spanish for Rothschild) Origine Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding expression of premium Maipo Valley Cabernet, and at a bargain of a price! Ripe and robust, its chalked full of fresh dark berries, black currant, black cherry, and impressive graphite minerality. Fresh, smooth, elegant and exceptional well balanced, this wine tastes twice as expensive as it is! A fantastic choice to serve at your next asado Chileno (Chilean BBQ) or cellar and enjoy over the next decade with grilled or braised beef dishes. Tasted May 2021. 93 points.
