Matt’s review:
Finding value-priced Pinot Noir these days is a reason to celebrate in itself! Pinot Noir can be some of the most expensive wines in the world, especially those from Cru vineyards throughout Burgundy, France, so it’s particularly nice to discover a quality Pinot at a bargain price and that’s exactly what Laurent Miquel’s Solas Reserve Pinot Noir delivers. Sourced from the far south of France in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, this sub $20 Pinot is one you’ll want to check out. Light ruby colour with a garnet hue, the nose shows cherry, plum, and earthy notes. The palate repeats with sour cherry, tart plum, herbs, and chalky fine grained tannins. Dry with an elegant texture, this Pinot is one you’ll want to enjoy over the next few years with mushroom risotto, bœuf bourguignon, or braised duck tagliatelle with parmesan. Tasted May 2024. 88 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
