April 2025
Matt’s review:
Hester Creek Viognier 2024, part of their Columbia Valley Collection, showcases grapes sourced from the Goose Gap AVA in the Columbia Valley, with vinification taking place at their Golden Mile Bench winery in southern Okanagan Valley.
I’m The 2024 vintage grapes were sourced just south of the border, where the harsh winter freeze that impacted the Okanagan Valley left their vines unharmed. These AVAs were selected for their similarities in terroir, varietals, and viticultural history to those of Hester Creek’s in the South Okanagan. Vineyard blocks were chosen by Hester Creek’s winemaker based on strict quality standards, with the entire winemaking process handled by their skilled in-house team.
Their 2024 Viognier is aromatic and vibrant, bursting with rich stone fruit, pear, spring blossoms, honeysuckle, wildflower honey, and a hint of wet stone minerality. The palate delivers a refreshing mouthfeel that is lively and elegant, avoiding any heaviness and delivering great flavour and texture at a modest 12.9% ABV.
