Barón de Ley Reserva 2010

Matt’s review: What an incredible wine for the price!  The colour is a deep ruby red with a hint of garnet, the nose shows ripe dark fruit, black cherry, plum, fig, baking spices, mocha, bacon, and cedar – needless to say this is an incredibly complex wine.  Dark cherry, plum, sweet spice, and pepper on the long finish.  Smooth with modest tannins that create terrific texture ideally suited for enjoyment with rich Spanish meals.  The 2010 Reserva Rioja spent 20 months in new American oak before resting for 24 months in bottle where all its components fell beutifully into place prior to its release. This would be a great hosting gift to bring to a dinner party or enjoy at home with shellfish paella, roasted leg of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, lamb tagine, grilled chorizo, barbecued beef brisket or ratatouille. Tasted October 2015 and November 2016. 92+ points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
