Matt’s review:
This premium Oakville Cabernet is sourced from the winery’s Reserve Vineyard that has a unique soil composition containing a significant amount of red chert rock fragments throughout, which perhaps is one of the key factors in what makes this Oakville Napa vineyard so exceptional year after year. Deep ruby with an opaque core, this single vineyard Cabernet is chalked full of rich black fruit, cassis, herbs, graphite and smoke. Big and bold, it’s supple despite its powerful structure – a hallmark of this harmonious and perfectly balanced wine. Richly concentrated with remarkable elegance that allows the layers and layers of flavours to shine bright on the long finish. Showing beautifully now, after a brief decant, and built to age gracefully over the next few decades. A wine to celebrate life’s most significant moments. Tasted May 2017. 96 points.
