wine review: Tender Hope 2018 Pinot Noir from West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, BC

Ottawa, ON

April 2020

Matt’s review: Tender Hope Winery produces a very limited quantity of Pinot Noir (50 cases) sourced from the Thacker Drive Vineyard in West Kelowna. Mature vines rooted in volanic soils contribute to the wine’s elegant profile, while its incredibly light colour (one could easily mistake it for a Saignée method Rosé), intrigues the senses until you taste it, where the aromas and flavours immediately reveal the complexity this Okanagan Pinot delivers. Don’t let the faint colour fool you, this wine delivers on all fronts! The nose is full of cherry, pepper, smoky flint, cedar, herbs, and autumn forest notes. Smooth and elegant, Tender Hope Pinot finishes with great freshness, making it well suited for enjoying with cedar plank salmon, charcuterie, and soft cheeses. Enjoy over the next few years. Tasted April 2020. 90 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca

Available winery direct – $26.50+tax

  1. It is one of the most famous wine as a lot of friends of mine have suggested me to get it. However, I went to the liquor store to buy it, but I found another bottle of rose wine that looked attractive.
