wine review: Niche Wine Co. Pinot Noir Blanc 2020

Ottawa, ON

June 2021

Matt’s review: Niche Wine Co.’s (from West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, BC) Pinot Noir Blanc is a unique and delicious twist on a Blanc de Noir. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, without an extended maceration, the result is a fresh and lively faint coral-copper coloured wine that’s best described as Summer in a bottle! The nose shows a fragrant bouquet of sweet strawberries, orchard blossoms, baked peach cobbler, and a hint of ginger. The palate is fresh and lively with loads of sweet orchard fruit making it perfectly suited for a wide array of summertime dishes. My recommendation, grilled halibut with strawberry mango salsa and a strawberry mâche salad with avocado dressing. Not feeling like cooking, no worries, it’s delicious on its own! With direct to consumer shipping, it’s a breeze to get these wines shipped right to your door all across Canada, before these small batches sell out. Highly recommended. Tasted June 2021. 90 points.
