January 2022.

Matt’s review: The 2019 Le Grand Clos Chardonnay showcases the greatness winemaker Thomas Bachelder is producing from one of Niagara’s (eventual) Grand Cru recognized vineyards. Complex bouquet with delicious orchard fruit, baked apple, perfumed spring blossoms, lanolin, and subtle sweet spices. Full bodied and beautifully textured, with zesty citrus, ripe orchard fruit, and toasty lees persisting on the long finish. A great example of what exceptional terroir and skilled winemaking can achieve when they overlap. 2019 is the third vintage of Le Grand Clos since its revival, and each vintage is proving to be stellar, indicative of the great provenance and talent behind this wine! Enjoy over the next decade and highly recommend starting a vertical given the past three vintages and indications of more greatness to come. Tasted January 2022. 94 points.
