wine review: Burrowing Owl Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 available at LCBO

Ottawa, ON

February 2022

Matt’s review: Burrowing Owl’s 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the expressive and beautifully balanced fruit they’re producing from their Black Sage Bench and Osoyoos vineyards in the south of the Okanagan. An abundance of fresh dark fruit, black berries, currants, Black Sage, menthol, and subtle earth notes on the nose which repeat on the palate. Very approachable immediately without the need to decant, this beautifully balanced Okanagan Cab has soft integrated tannins that are primed for immediate enjoyment and will show wonderfully over the next five years. Pop and pour and enjoy this beautiful expression of a fine Okanagan Cabernet with premium grilled steaks, charcuterie, or beef tacos. Enjoy 2022-2027. Tasted February 2022. 92 points. Available winery direct or while supplies last at LCBO – $52.95
