Tenuta delle Ripalte is a stunning Mediterranean resort and winery located on Elba Island, off the coast of Tuscany, north of Rome and south of Florence. Nestled within the rugged landscapes of the island’s southeastern coast, the estate is part of a sprawling 450-hectare private nature reserve, offering breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and their 16 hectares of rolling vineyards.
The winery specializes in producing high-quality wines from Mediterranean grape varieties, such as Alicante (Grenache) which their Rosso Mediterraneo Ripalte is based. Rosso Mediterraneo Ripalte 2022 is sourced from their Gorgaccio vineyards in Capoliveri, Elba Island. The wine is a medium-light ruby, the nose shows a complex bouquet of raspberry, plum, cherry, graphite, herbs, and leather. Medium bodied with great freshness, layers of refreshing fruit, spice, with light tannins and pronounced sapidity and minerality making it a wonderful complement for Mediterranean cuisine, including Tuscan Cacciucco (seafood stew), wood fired pizza or charcuterie. Versatile for enjoying year round, including serving slightly chilled in the summer. Beautiful expression from this island winery. Highly recommended. Tasted February 2025. 94 points.
