Matt’s review:
If you’re a fan of Pinot Grigio, you’re in for a treat with Hester Creek’s 2024 Riesling from the Ancient Lakes AVA. This wine is a refreshing twist on the classic Riesling, showcasing delightful pear and stone fruit notes without the often typical petrol and even shower curtain characteristics which can make this varietal so divisive with wine enthusiasts.
For the 2024 vintage, Hester Creek sourced premium fruit from the Columbia Valley and expertly vinified it using their Okanagan know-how. The result is a fantastic expression of West Coast Riesling that shines with versatility.
A vibrant bouquet of pear, apricot, white peach, and floral notes with a hint of minerality to keep things interesting. On the palate, it’s clean and refreshing, with crisp citrus and bright apple flavors that deliver a mouthwatering tartness making it a wonderful food-pairing wine. Try it with sweet and sour chicken, grilled fish with lemon, or BBQ wings with tangy sauce.
This Riesling is a great gateway into the magical world of this noble varietal. See for yourself.
