Matt’s review: Attention Petit Verdot lovers…here’s one you don’t want to miss! Rich and succulent, this Sonoma County blend of 52% Petit Verdot, 28% Malbec, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Tempranillo, and 3% Carignane, is bursting with brambleberry, cherry pie, clove, sweet tobacco, and graphite. Fresh and lively, it’s elegant with a dense core of dark fruit, plums, and sweet clove persisting on the finish. Enjoy with charcoal grilled pork and enjoy 2019-2024. Available at LCBO – $29.95
And look for the 2014 Tom Gore Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from Alexander Valley, California. This may show up in LCBO later this year (2019). This gorgeous Cabernet is packed with dark chocolate, figs, plum, sweet herbs, pipe tobacco, and fresh eucalyptus. Beautifully balanced, this fresh and lively Cabernet has layers of dark fruits with silky smooth, well structured tannins. A very impressive Cabernet that’s showing wonderfully now and will only gain further complexity over the next decade. Tasted February 2019. 93 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
