#wine review:Tender Hope Syrah 2016 from Walla Walla Valley, Washington, USA

Ottawa, ON

April 2019

Matt’s review:

Boom! This deeply coloured, rich and expressive Syrah from Walla Walla Valley in Washington State is a fantastic example of the bold and luscious red wines they’re producing in this increasingly popular wine region. The nose shows an expressive bouquet of blackberry, plum, blueberry compote, mocha, sandalwood, fresh herbs, and graphite. Full bodied, with layers of silky smooth dark berries, plum, mocha, pepper, and a spicy finish. This youthful Syrah is bold and expressive with a lush mid-palate and spicy finish, showing great texture, freshness, and balance. Enjoy over the next five years with your favourite BBQ treat, braised dishes, or fireside with great friends. 1100 bottles produced. 15.9% ABV. Tasted April 2019. 91 points.
