Matt’s review:

To Kalon Vineyard, Napa Valley’s world-renowned first-growth (quality) vineyard, is the birthplace of Robert Mondavi’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Now in its fifth vintage, this impressie wine showcases all the hallmarks of this prestigious vineyard, making it an ideal wine to now and for decades to come.

Grapes for the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from the finest blocks throughout To Kalon Vineyards, with individual bunches hand harvested at perfect ripeness, after which they were hand sorted, then only the finest individual berries selected. Nothing but the finest fruit made its way into this ultra premium wine, and the finished product tells that story with impressive flavour, texture, and harmony. A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon with 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petite Verdot, this wine is muscular, rich, and concentrated with huge structure and loads of dark fruits and sweet spice. Currently very youthful with beautiful balance, elegance, and harmony that will last the test of time and be preserved over the next 30+ years while it evolves in bottle. Enjoy with fine cuts of grilled beef, such as Rib Eye with Bordelaise sauce. Tasted September 2019. 96 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
