Matt’s review:
With each and every vintage CheckMate Artisanal Winery is solidifying their reputation as one of Canada’s leading wineries, producing world-class Chardonnay and Merlot from the south of the Okanagan Valley, in Canada’s wine capital, Oliver, BC.
CheckMate’s 2015 Knight’s Challenge (100% Chardonnay from the Sunset Vineyard along the Black Sage Bench) shows fresh tropical fruit, melon, Meyer Lemon, with a chalky minerality. Elegant, textured, and beautifully balanced, the palate shows an abundance of citrus, tropical, and exotic fruits, with hints of sweet banana chips and vanilla bean crème brûlée. Texture is expected in all CheckMate wines, and this delivers with hints of toasty oak, lees, and fine tannins on the long finish. Another excellent expression of premium Okanagan Chardonnay. Drink 2020-2025. Tasted May 2020. 94 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
