Matt’s review: Culmina’s No. 18 Süsser Riesling 2020 is very unique offering that’s part of their winemaker’s small lot experimental series. 2020 Süsser Riesling No. 18 is sourced from Margaret’s Bench Vineyard high up on the slopes of the Golden Mile Bench. Winemaker Jean-Marc Enixon stopped fermentation when the optimal balance of sweetness and crisp acidity was achieved, ultimately seeing this delicious off-dry Riesling with over 50g/L RS and retaining so much of the varietal character from that acclaimed high altitude vineyard. The nose is very aromatic with honey, pear, peach, floral notes, and impressive minerality. Full bodied with a creamy texture, look for honeyed stone fruit and minerality persisting on the long and refreshing finish. A wonderful wine for enjoying with creamy cheeses or spicy fare, like spicy Szechuan chicken and spicy garlic tofu. Tasted November 2022. 93 points. Matt Steeves – http://www.quercusvino.ca
